Not having had anything more than a glance at it, COCA claims to be using lemmatized forms, so it shouldn't have "children", "gotten". OTOH, especially for the purposes of UG5, it seems entirely fair to count irregular parts of speech as distinct words, and not regular ones. Which brings us back to wugs.
