We should be well to the left of the current political-spectrum/Overton-Window/whatever, yes. But should (happy day!) the other parties move even further to the left than us, we should be happy to say "now we are a right-wing party, still standing for the same core values."
That is, our identity need not be predicated on being right or left or centre-left or north-by-north-left. But our policies will inevitably put us somewhere relative to the other parties, and where it puts us, that is where we are.
